Osama bin Laden’s death

On May 1st, 2011, Navy Seals raided a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. There, they found bin Laden hidin and he was shot twice. Once in the head and once in the chest. One of his sons was reportedly killed in the raid too. It only took ten years to find him, but he was finally brought to justce. People gathered outside the White House as the President made the anncouncement, shouting USA and singing the Star Spangled Banner. There is a great sense of nationalism in our country right now along with a sense of relief or finality. How long will it last? Al Queda has confirmed the death and is planning their revenge. They said, "Soon, God willing, their happiness will turn to sadness," it said, "their blood will be mingled with their tears."

As a nation we should be happy that justice finally came, but we should also be cautious. The tenth anniversary of 9- 11 is coming up and I would expect some retalliation. The War on terror is not over. There are many groups all over the Middle East and one man’s death will not stop terrorism in its tracks.

  1. i agree with Jackie's comment. although it is a great accomplishment and a sense of relief for those directly effected by his actions, we must not be inconsiderate or rude. there is always the possibility of retalliation.Senator Joe Lieberman said “My appeal to the American people is please be alert," We should listen to this and make sure we are careful of what we say and do, so we do not influence the Al Quaida people to fight back.

  2. The death of Osama Bin Laden is a wonderful defeat for the American people considering we have been looking for the worlds most wanted man for 10 years.America is relieved to know that the man who has caused so many tears of the families who have been killed through the mastermind of his 9-11 terriost attack is now dead. As President Obama stated, "justice has been done". But throughout all the joy that has come with the death of Bin Laden should come a little bit of caution. Al Queda plans to fight back and retaliate which should raise some caution for the american people.
