The Smoking Baby Quit?

This little toddler caused quite an uproar last spring when a video was released of this little two year old boy enthusiastically going through cigarettes as if they were a sucker. Two-year-old Ardi Rizal of South Sumatra, who reportedly smoked 40 cigarettes a day, may have finally stopped because of a 30 day rehabilitation program this boy was put though. "He has stopped smoking and doesn't ask for cigarettes anymore," Arist Merdeka Sirait, chairman of Indonesia's National Commission on Child Protection said.

Because of this clearly unhealthy habit the two year old had acquired, his brain has shrunk and may cause more health risks later in his life. According to The Globe, Indonesia’s tobacco industry markets its products to children, as well as adults. Well thanks to some very clearly needed help, this baby will hopefully become a smoke free, happy baby.

  1. Our first post makes for a good guinea pig.

First off, other than it probably being borderline inappropriate for school, the mysteriously news-worthy event took place in Indonesia, which fails to acknowledge one of the prime particulars of this project--that being that the event be a domestic one! Secondly, did I mention it's borderline inappropriate?

  2. Well Mr. Foster I am not sure how this relates to the United States, but I will touch upon smoking in the US.
Smoking causes harm to the body. It is no good for you. It causes diseases such as cancers and emphysema and can lead to stroke and heart attack. It puts a negative effect on your health and puts strain on your heart and other organs of the body.
Smoking is the United States is proven to have a lower rate within regions of higher educational attainment. Educating the minds of citizens can help lower the rates of smoking. Also, raising taxes on tobacco causes a consumer's eye to steer away from the product.
In my opinion smoking is bad and the US should try anything in its power to lower the rate of smokers.

  3. Did you Know obacco is the leading preventable cause of disease and death in the US? (That means we can stop it) From 1964-2004, smoking has caused about 12 million deaths, 4.1 million from cancer, and 5.5 million from cardiovascular diseases. When smoking the smoker inhales 200 different types of toxins.
Shortness of breath and dizziness, heart disease, including stroke, heart attack, and aneurysm (burst blood vessel) are a few side effects of smoking. 3000 non smokers die each year due to second hand smoke. ciggarettes have the same addictive nicotene that marajuana and cocaine have

I however dont think the US will do anything because the taxes are so high and people willl buy them anyway.
